My Aunt used to make sticky buns and molasses dumplings from left over mashed potatoes. Any recipes out there?

I remember she would allow the dough to rise.

This is my mom’s recipe. Hope it’s what you’re looking for.

MASHED POTATO STICKIES

Step 1: Mix and let rise for 1 hour.
2 c. mashed potatoes, mashed super fine
2 c. lukewarm water
2 c. superfine granulated sugar
1 tbsp. salt
1 c. melted butter (best if sweet cream, nonsalted)
2 pkgs. yeast (buy a good brand, it makes a difference)
2 c. flour (not self-rising)

Step 2: Add:
5 beaten eggs
6 c. flour

Mix and knead, then let rise until double in size. Dough will be sticky. Roll out and spread with small amount of softened butter. Sprinkle with small amounts of brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll like jelly roll and cut into 1/2 inch slices. Put on top of syrup (reserving 1/4 C) in pan. Let rise 1 hour and bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Top with reserved syrup

SYRUP:
1 c. butter, melted
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
3 tbsp. molasses
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. vanilla extract
