Starting pie-maker’s hardware?
So right now I am trying to assemble a gift for my girlfriend, who enjoys cooking but has never really made a pie completely from scratch but seems very interested in doing so. I want to get her all the tools she’ll need to make perfect pies.
So far I’ve found a nice book on Amazon called, as it were, “Pie” (though I’d be open to other suggestions on that front). What I need now are things like baking tins, other tools, or even hard-to-find ingredients, and advice about what to look for. So what should I do?
Not a lot of equipment is needed to make a pie, and the ingredients are not usually exotic. She’ll need a pie plate (perhaps a regular one and a deep dish), a rolling pin and a pastry cutter. If she doesn’t have a nice set of measuring spoons and measuring cups, maybe you could throw that in. As far as ingredients, perhaps look at one of the recipes in the book, and gather the ingredients for that recipe.
