I am planning to open my own business some input please?

I am deciding whether to go for a restaurant or a discount store that sells party supplies and well 99cent products, Im a mother of 4 so I have alot of cooking experience and everyone that tastes my food loves my cooking, I would sell tacos, tortas, some mex, plates and salvadorean plates since I can cook both. people tell me its alot of work and I wont make it. and that I should focus on something easier. or just get a regular job.. I know business is the way to go on wanting to make better money but also its hard work, so Im debating on a store, or a small restaurant what do you guys think Im in CA.

I think you should really consider what resources you have to pursue either of these ventures. For a restaurant, you will need the building, furniture, inventory, equipment, insurances, staff, etc – do you have the money to purchase or lease at least these items? Do you have the credit and capital necessary to get a loan for this? It is very difficult to get a business loan for a restaurant so you will have to be near perfect. Regarding a store, you will need a building, fixtures, inventory, staff, and other stuff.

Realize that you should have a business plan (if you get a loan you have to) so see where your passions come out when putting one together for each idea. Think about what your work experience actually relates most to so that you can relate it to the business. And make sure you have access to at least 20% of your start-up costs.
